FRONTINUS

Supply chains · pre-position

The disruption is quality first, tonnes second

A single FRONTINUS field does not replace Chilean copper. It does reprice clean concentrate, payable gold in sulfide paste, and the environmental case for bulk SMS excavation. Offtakers who wait for a USGS line item will already have lost the first lots.

Who is hit, and what to do before 2032

ActorEffectPre-position
Copper smelters & custom concentratesHigher-grade, lower-penalty paste competes with dirty VMS and some porphyry concentrates. TC/RCs on clean lots compress first.Book trial lots; reserve furnace slots for 2030–32 paste assays.
Zinc refinersWhite-smoker and mixed-zone ZnS can arrive with lower iron penalty than many terrestrial feeds.Qualify FRONTINUS Zn paste against Roaster impurity tables.
Precious-metal circuitsAu–Ag reporting in discrete sulfide layers raises payable gold without a separate mine.Update offtake formulas for zoned paste, not bulk SMS.
Cobalt & specialtySmall tonnes, high leverage on offtake narratives and IRA-style origin rules.Chain-of-custody protocol now, before first cargo.
Bulk SMS project developersContinuous fluid harvest undercuts the need to level chimneys at some sites.Re-scope environmental and capex cases; do not assume excavation monopoly.
Terrestrial VMS juniorsHigh-purity seafloor paste re-rates what ‘high grade’ means in offtake talks.Stress-test PEAs against a 2032 clean-paste price deck.

2026–28

Assay protocols, impurity tables, ISA/EEZ legal watch, no capex on a field required.

2029–31

Smelter trial lots if a pilot well exists. Rewrite offtake clauses for zoned paste.

2032–38

Base path can approach a few hundred kt Cu-eq/year. Fast path crosses 1% of refined copper. That is when PEAs break.
